Friends Danny Walsh and Jack Clough completed the London Marathon on Sunday to boost a charity's funds.

They hope their sponsored efforts will raise £1,400 each for Sense, an organisation supporting people who suffer from both hearing and sight impairments.

Danny -- whose 40th birthday was on race day -- clocked up a finishing time of 4hrs 11mins, while Jack got round the gruelling course in 4hrs 29mins.

The duo, from Keighley, have known each other for over 30 years.

Danny said: "They say life begins at 40, and this proves it.

"I was amazed by the amount of support from the crowds, which kept me going."

The friends were among 650 people running in aid of Sense.

Jo Morgan, for the charity, said: "The marathon was a fantastic experience for all involved and it was great to watch our runners cross the finish line. They gave 100 per cent in their training and fundraising, and all their hard work has really paid off.

"We hope to have raised between £750,000 and £850,000 in total, and would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and enthusiasm. By taking on this challenge they have helped to transform the lives of thousands of deaf-blind people around the UK."
