A 19-year-old girl has been nominated for a prestigious national award.
Claire Holmes, of Fir Street, Keighley, received the honour for her achievements in her Modern Apprenticeship in customer services. Along with two other young people from the Skipton district, Claire was nominated as one of the best apprentices in the region.
She was presented with the nomination in a ceremony at the Hanover International Hotel, Skipton.
Next month she will find out whether or not she has been short-listed for the national award, which is to be presented at a ceremony in London in June.
The awards recognise the success of modern apprentices, highlighting the outstanding contributions they make for their employers, or the personal difficulties they overcome.
Claire, a receptionist at Sunwin Rover, Stockbridge, is delighted with her nomination. She said: "I'm dead chuffed because I've not really won any awards before."
Claire decided to do the apprenticeship after leaving school with hardly any GCSEs.
Following her success, she has now started another NVQ in administration. She hopes that she will make the national shortlist next month.
