Jethro -- St George's Hall, Bradford

Dubbed Cornwall's Minister of Culture, Jethro had the audience rocking with laughter on Saturday.

The politically uncorrect comedian pulled no punches with his street-wise style.

He rubbished the Germans, the French, the Welsh and towns in West Yorkshire, including Keighley.

Sex, as usual, was his recurring topic. But with his Cornish drawl, superb timing and outright cheek, he gets away with blue jokes lesser comedians can not. Jethro has the ability to tell a main story and at the same time intersperse it with minor jokes, much in the style of the great Ronnie Corbett.

Jethro was backed by the versatile voice of Shaun Perry. Jethro told the story of the song he had "written", Trouble Over Bridgwater, which was stolen by Simon and Garfunkel and, of course, Perry went on to sing that version.

After an hilarious show, the finale was something of a let down. The monologue-type song of Jethro's "life" in Cornwall was not his strongest moment.
