A writer is rescued by his greatest fan after crashing his car in the remote Colorado mountains.

Annie Wilkes decides to nurse Paul Sheldon back to health -- until she discovers he is killing off his heroine.

In the latest production from Keighley Playhouse, the result is not a happy one for the paralysed writer.

"Annie loses all sense of reason and makes his life a living hell," says director Geoff Whitley.

Geoff believes Misery -- staged from Monday to Saturday -- is the only Stephen King novel to have been adapted for the stage.

He says: "While the film was excellent and won a best actress Oscar for Kathy Bates, I believe this adaptation is even better.

"An added bonus is that we have two of our best and most experienced actors, Patricia Henny and Tim Lobley, taking on the demanding roles."

Patricia has been coaxed out of retirement to play the complex and sinister Annie and is expected to display her usual expertise for getting down to the bones of the character.

Tim, a regular performer at Keighley Playhouse, was last seen in the Christmas production We're No Angels.
