A Community group has been given a major cash boost towards improving its computer suite.

Barclays Bank handed over a cheque for £4,985 to the Bangladeshi Community Association (BCA), of Kensington Street, Keighley.

Association development officer Abdul Motin said: "Barclays have been great to us.

"They have supported us in the past and we are absolutely delighted to receive this grant.

"Now we can look forward to giving our users a better delivery of service.

"We got the funding through a couple of weeks ago.

"At the moment we have eight computers but we hope to increase that to 10."

Barclays' Janette Blythe added: "We are committed to communities and we are delighted to support the BCA.

"This is a great opportunity for us to help make a real and lasting difference to the local community."

The association is a focal point for the community and its aims are to provide access and resources for the many young people and mothers who visit the centre.

The most recent project has been to help improve and develop computer skills, assisting young people with homework and providing additional resources for all.

The donation will be used to upgrade the existing computer systems and renovate the IT suite, making it a more inviting environment in which to work.

This is the second donation that the group has received from Barclays.

In 2002 it received £3,100 towards supporting study classes for children aged from 6-16 years old.
