Town had this game sewn up in the first half with 34 unanswered points against Underbank.

Hooker, Quinton Sneyd, got the ball rolling after plucking the ball out of the air from a kick on the last tackle, before ducking under a tackle and racing off to score, Richard Shaw tagged on the convrsion.

Centre Alan Muff capitalised on a dropped ball by Underbank and stepped his way through the defence to score a great solo try.

Town were starting to look dangerous whenever they had the ball and Rocky McNulty must be wondering what he has to do to score. He split the defence apart and made a 60-yard run but was pulled down a yard from the line. A quick play the ball saw his younger brother Darren cross the whitewash and score under the posts. The conversion gave Keighley a 16-0 lead in as many minutes.

The home side's next try went through three pairs of hands before being passed out to centre John McComb who side stepped his way through the defence to score Shaw was on target with the kick to make it 22-0. Two quick tries before half time took the game out of reach, the first was by man of the match John McComb and Danny Barrrett scored right on the whistle to make it 34-0 at the break.

The second half saw Underbank come out fighting and they scored two converted tries in seven minutes. From a scrum ten yards from Keighley's line they passed the ball out to the right and dived over for their first. The second was a cruel bounce for the home side after a set of six they put a high kick in the ball bounced over the Keighley winger and a good chase by Underbank gave them their second try 34-12.

Things were gridlocked for the next ten minutes with both sides struggling to find an opening in either defence. Keighley were defending on their own line, with no way through the visitors placed the ball along the ground but John McComb read the play well and took a step back and gathering the ball up and breaking through a tackler he raced the full length of the pitch to score his hat-trick try. Shaw made sure of the two extra points.

Skipper Richard Shaw scored a try of his own ten minutes from time to seal the 44-12 win.
