TELEVISION sports presenter Gabby Logan had the pupils of Ermysted's Grammar School sitting up in their seats as she told them tales about Des Lynam and David Beckham.
Mrs Logan was the main guest at the school's annual speech day on Monday.
She took the boys through her own career from a 15-year-old "wannabe" to a regular face on British television.
Mrs Logan said that among the most frequent questions she was asked were what was Des Lynam like and whether she had met David Beckham.
She told the audience that Des was a lovely man and added: "I have met David Beckham. Yes, he does sound like that and he is that handsome."
In his address headmaster Tom Ashworth reported on pleasing results at GSCE and A level. He added it had been observed that the school had outperformed public school, Eton College, at A level.In September, all 112 year seven places were due to be taken up, which would create a record number of pupils on roll of around 650.
