Hundreds of people have entered the Telegraph & Argus competition which gives them the chance to become a catwalk star.

Altogether 561 entries poured in for our Modelsearch 2004 competition - almost twice the number last year.

The competition is being run in association with the Kirkgate shopping centre in Bradford and the Catwalk model agency.

The heats will be held on Sunday and wannabe models will be battling it out for a place in the final.

The Kirkgate shopping centre will be completely transformed on the day with a catwalk dominating the lower level.

Kirkgate manager Catherine Riley, who is on the judging panel, said: "The entire centre will be completely transformed for the day and it will look spectacular.

"The competition last year was lots of fun and I know this year will be even better. I wish all the contestants the very best of luck on the day."

The heats start at 10.15am with the four-to-six-year-olds first. They will be followed by the seven-to-10-year-olds at noon, then the 16-plus category at 1.30pm, ending with the 11-to-15-year-olds at 2.45pm.

Among the entrants are "double trouble" Megan and Chloe Rollin.

The four-year-old identical twins have been entered by their mum Alison Jackson, 25.

"They love having their pictures taken so I thought I would enter them because they will have a lot of fun," said Miss Jackson.

"I have not decided what they will wear yet but I think it will be matching outfits and hopefully they will catch the judges' eye."

Miss Jackson, of Felcourt Drive, Holme Wood, will be there on Sunday cheering on her girls with their brothers Thomas, 6, and Brooklyn, 2.

She said she thought the girls, who go to Reycroft Primary School, have a good chance of winning.

"I would really like them both to have a future in the industry and winning this competition would be a step up the ladder," she said.

Abdul Humid, 38, from Heaton is the eldest male contestant. "I just entered for fun. I have never done any modelling but I am looking forward to my debut performance," he said.

Winners of the competition will receive a year's placement with Catwalk Model Agency and vouchers worth up to £100.

Established in 1985, Catwalk provides models for photographic work, fashion shows, promotional work and television.

The winners of the heats will compete in the grand final on Monday, May 31.
