Wayne Jacobs donned City's latest kit with his fingers firmly crossed that it will see league action next season.

As Jacobs and Mark Bower tried on the new-look outfits for size, the club's long-serving left back admitted he had never known a summer like it.

Uncertainty continues to surround Valley Parade, although there are a few encouraging signs that the club is inching towards survival.

Jacobs, making plans for his testimonial year, said: "The players are just like the fans. We're just waiting to see what happens next.

"But it's getting quite late in the day, we're back for pre-season in a few weeks and the league isn't that far away.

"At the moment we've got no manager and nobody's sure about the players or the ground. It's certainly unusual and I've never been in this situation before. But there's not much you can do apart from sit quiet and hope."

The first team are due to start training again on July 1, although who will take charge is still anyone's guess. The pre-season friendlies cannot be finalised either until City have some kind of guarantee over the long term.

Jacobs added: "From the club's point of view, there are still a lot of areas that need to be tied down. You sense that things are a little more positive but there is a lot of work that has to be done before everything is secure.

"Obviously we're all hoping that it can be sorted out so the club can stay at Valley Parade.

"The level of support we've had from the fans has been amazing and I'm sure people would still go to watch us at Odsal. But that has to be a last-case scenario because Valley Parade is our true home."

Jacobs and Mark Bower have modelled the new home and away kit, which can be revealed today for the first time.

City's new look retains the claret and amber stripes but, in a move away from the norm, they will be playing in white shorts.

The change kit has altered dramatically once again. After the blue of the centenary season, City have followed the trend of a growing number of clubs by going for black.

Jacobs added: "The black is a smart kit and it's a real change for us. And the lads will be pleased with the white shorts at home, especially those coming back from holiday who can show off their tans!"

To coincide with the kit launch, City are offering five replica home shirts to fans. Details are available on the club's official web-site at www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk.

l The 'Fit and Proper Persons Test' which has been launched by the Football League to promote good governance in the game will not affect City.

Under the new rules it will be a breach of the regulations to have been into administration twice in a five-year period while director of a club.

However, these regulations will only come into effect when clubs appoint new board members.
