Bradford Dudley Hill made it six wins on the trot in LHF Healthplan National League Three to maintain their second place.

And the visitors' defence was again to the fore with evergreen prop Richard Bingley, centre David Brown, hooker Gaz Walker and fellow forward Chris Walsh being the shining lights.

Micky Piper put Hill ahead with a penalty in the second minute, but four minutes later Brown - brother-in-law of the Bulls' Joe Vagana - had a try ruled out for a forward pass.

In the 14th minute, the Hawks were caught lying on the ball and Piper landed his second penalty. Brown scored a legitimate try in the 28th minute out wide, but Walsh missed the conversion, Piper having left the field with a knee injury.

Second row Liam Jordan was next to cross in the 35th minute, Chris Robinson landing the conversion after becoming Hill's third goal-kicker of the half.

Sheffield were tough and uncompromising, but again fell foul of a picky referee in the 43rd minute, Robinson landing a penalty after the ball was ripped out in a tackle.

Hawks got on the board through their centre Graham Batty three minutes later, Andrew Carson adding the goal.

But Jordan was rewarded for his efforts with a second try in the 62nd minute on a day when things didn't always go his way.

Robinson's goal made it 22-6, and Hill's scoring was completed in the 74th minute with a try by loose forward Kenny Smith. Batty bagged his second in the dying minutes, Carson again adding the extras.

Walker was named man of the match in an excellent all-round Hill performance, but Brown ran him close. Jordan's second try - it was his first brace for the club - was the game-breaker.

l A Chorley Lynx player is alleged to have bitten Sheffield hooker Scott Collins during yesterday's LHF National Two game at the Don Valley Stadium.

Referee Phil Bentham confirmed after the game that he had put the incident on report after being shown an injury by Collins. The alleged attack took place early in the first half as the Eagles, who were beaten 31-24, were defending in their 20-metre zone.

Collins has what looks like teeth marks on his right forearm which he says happened as he tackled a Chorley player.

He said: "I just tackled him and my hand was around his face and he bit my arm. It's never happened before and it took me by surprise but we were on our line so I had to run off and reported it (to the referee) a couple of minutes later."

The incident will now be reviewed by the Rugby Football League, who will decide whether the matter should be referred to the disciplinary committee.

47-0 half-time lead.
