First Division leaders Laisterdyke crashed to their first defeat of the season in sensational style when they travelled to the division's most unpredictable team, Allerton.

Batting first, Allerton were in real trouble when in the game's very first over Nasser Jamal stunned them with a hat-trick. However the home side managed to recover to register a total of 153.

Skipper David McDermott led the way with an unbeaten 56. Jamal finished with eight for 62 with the ball.

However, on this occasion this relatively modest total proved too big a hurdle for the normally prolific visitors, who found Naeem Akhtar in good form, returning five for 24 to shock the leaders, who were dismissed for just 102.

Second-placed Girlington (250-9) narrowed the gap at the top to a solitary point when they recorded a 71-run win at Great Horton Church (179).

Clayton's (121) recent run of form came to an abrupt end at Jer Lane, where they lost by five wickets. Lindsay Robertshaw took all five Jer Lane wickets to fall at a cost of 29 runs.

Basement club Thornbury 186-6 (Robert Smith and Abdul Halim both hitting 52) had a good win at Wibsey Park Chapel 142 (Anthony Devanne 5-47) to lift them closer to a clutch of clubs around them.

Steve Priestley with 119 and Richard Sandford with 79 helped Shelf to 287 for six at home to Norwood Green, who replied with 158, Neil Ratcliffe hitting 58 and Mick Priestley returning five for 74 for the winners.

BT Bradford (228-6, Dave Matthews 56, Mohammed Junaid 72no) claimed four points against Hepworth and Idle, who replied with 172 for four.

In the Second Division, leaders Eldwick and Gilstead (114, Simon Baygnall 7-31) lost by seven wickets at Adwalton (117-3), while Low Moor HT (Lee Ashforth 61, Mark Stokes 71no) are just two points behind the leaders after their latest win at Cross Roads-Daisy Hill, who replied with 119 after Low Moor's 256 for six. Tony Hubbert returned eight for 34 for the visitors.

Third Division leaders Hepworth and Idle (255-3, Paul Medley 108, Maurice Chilton 101no) stretched their lead to 11 points after a 35-run win at Norwood Green (220), Dave Wilson taking seven for 93 for

the leaders. Second-placed Thornbury were shot out for just 23 (Robert Ramsden 5-5 and David Cunningham 5-10) in reply to visitors Shelf, who earlier had made 112.
