It's celebration time at one of Bradford's most successful Asian businesses as Bombay Stores unveils its new warehouse.

Neelam, Fehmina and Maram Kader clearly enjoyed the grand opening of the 35,000 sq ft extension to the UK's largest Asian department store, which brings the company's total warehouse space to 80,000 sq ft.

The £1.5 million expansion is expected to create up to ten new jobs at the company, in Shearbridge Road, Bradford.

Abdul and Maram Kader, who started the business in the early 1960s, were on hand on the big day but Bombay Stores is now run by the next generation, brothers Saleem and Vaseem, responsible for wholesale and retail respectively.

The project has been managed by Saleem, who said: "I have long dreamed of this warehouse, although we had to wait for the right time and the right site. Fortunately, this adjacent site means we can keep the whole of Bombay Stores in one place and, with the wholesale business going into the new facility, more space is now available for the shop to expand. This is an exciting time for Bombay Stores and should secure our employees' jobs for years to come."
