The courage of that BNP 'mole'

Sir - Congratulations to the BBC and the T&A for laying bare the criminality and extreme racism at the heart of the British National Party.

All decent Bradfordians - including many who mistakenly saw voting BNP as a way to make a protest - will now surely be united in revulsion.

I would particularly like to express my admiration for the enormous courage and dedication shown by Andy Sykes, Bradford TUC's 'secret agent' within the BNP.

Few people who have seen the ugliness within the organisation at first hand would then take the step, not of leaving, but of staying in its midst so as to help expose it for all to see.

In so doing, he has done both the district and the country a great service.

Dave Moore, Secretary, Amicus Community and General Branch, Chapel Street, Bradford.

Breach of contract

Sir - I am a 25-year season ticket holder at City and was disgusted at the wording of the statement from the administrator.

I would not mind giving a one-off donation to the club of £150 but to say they are doing us a favour by offering us a discounted season ticket is a disgrace.

I have already paid for my ticket and if the club do not honour it they are in breach of contract.

Also there is no promise that tickets will be honoured in the future.

I need a lot more information about the future of my 25-year ticket before I will even consider buying another one for this season.

Act of betrayal

Sir - I must reply to the item hidden away in the cash pledge article from Julian Rhodes.

The loyal 25-year season ticket holders have been told their tickets won't be honoured and that we can buy a bargain ticket for £150.

I took a loan out for my ticket as did a number of my friends and still have two years left to pay. Am I expected to write off this money (somewhere in the region of £3,500), go down to Valley Parade and pay even more money to watch Second Division football?

The need to maximise revenue is mentioned. Well, the two season tickets I normally buy for my son and girlfriend won't be bought, nor will the home and away shirts for the three of us.

I have been a City fan for over 30 years. They have saved the club but taken the heart and soul away. I am sure other ticket holders feel the same as me, torn between loyalty for the club and disgust at the way we have been treated.

Maybe we should form a steering committee to try and get our money back.

Mick Dawson, Raeburn Drive, Wibsey.

We feel cheated

Sir - I and many others feel cheated and let down not only by those directors at Bradford City FC who have 'jumped ship' but also by those presently running the club including the administrators.

A lot of ordinary working people made sacrifices to pay more than £2,000 each for the so-called 25-year season ticket.

Until the club is again run by directors with proven business acumen (like Jack Tordoff), I certainly will not pay further money for the privilege of watching City. It's scandalous what has gone on.

Those responsible (and we all know who they are) should be banned by the football authorities from ever becoming involved with football administration again.

There is also a case for specialist Football Club insolvency administrators who have more knowledge of the inner workings of professional soccer. This may prevent clubs from being stripped so readily of their prize assets at give away prices. Can we be sure that any funds raised are being used in the clubs best interests by the administrators?

Sorry, I've just had enough!

Ray Shepherd, Carlton Drive, Guiseley.

Smacking dilemma

Sir - I agree with Coun Roger Taylor (T&A July 12) and the simplistic view taken by the NSPCC in the smacking debate.

In fact I believe child cruelty would massively increase, not decrease.

Can anyone imagine how the relationship between a parent and child would be affected if the parent was fined? The financial penalty could also result in restrictions in out-of-school activities for the child.

There are many single parents today. The supreme folly would be for a parent to be jailed for smacking. Who would then look after the child?

Now that would be state abuse.
