Asa Briggs came down to earth with a thud after a 26-4 defeat at Bramley Libs in the Godwin League.

Shane Richards stunned Asa with his 21-3, though there were also wins for Pat Dacre (21-6) and Mark McCann (21-11).

Only Asa import James Senior managed to deal with the tricky green and post a winning card.

As if the score wasn't bad enough, their closest rivals grasped the opportunity to close the gap on them.

Armley Con notched up 30 points against struggling Knowles A. Daley Hebberd (21-3), Craig Hebberd (21-6), Richard Lawrence (21-7) and 21-9s for Roger Binks and James Crossland helped Armley to an 103-point margin.

Eccleshill also clawed a few points back with a 21-9 win at Wyke.

Andy Gilroy proved Eccleshill's best player yet again with a 21-9 win over Wyke's Matt Hicks.

Guiseley were well worth their 19-11 win over Queensbury, Mick Hall and Graham Oliver both winning 21-10 for Guiseley.

In the Observer League, Derek Little (21-1) and Doris Dunning (21-5) helped Heckmondwike to a 22-8 win at home to Drighlington, and there were five winners apiece for Haworth and Pudsey Ltd B, though Pudsey just edged the game 16-14 thanks to a 21-8 from Alan Jessop.

A 21-4 success for Steve Riddell ensured a big win for Bowling at home to Clayton in the Bartle League, while young Alan Meeson (21-10) helped Peel B record a 17-13 home win over Lister A.

Peel had six winning cards on the day and would have enjoyed a more emphatic scoreline had it not been for Lister's Nino Esposito (21-6) and John Allwood (21-9).

Littlemoor entertained Royd House for whom Margaret Hinchcliffe was a 21-7 winner. This was cancelled out by Glenn Miller (21-8), and a couple of 21-9s from Eileen Esgate and Kath Bywell secured the game for Littlemoor 19-11.

Kath Bywell also produced a 21-7 win in the game against Tyersal which Littlemoor also won, 17-13.

I'm honestly not on commission for mentioning Royd House bowler Billy Cater. However, it is difficult to ignore him when he continues winning to single-figures every week. A 21-5 success in his side's game at home to Low Moor Harold helped Royd House sneak a 16-14 win.

Bill Hutchinson (21-2), John Ramsey (21-5) and Henry Lee (21-9) ensured a solid 21-9 home win for West Bradford at home to Harold Park in the Haigh League.

West got back to winning ways with a 21-9 win at home to Shelf A, Derek Dillon top-scoring for West with a 21-7 win.

Fred Taylor was also a 21-7 winner for his team Horton as they beat Wyke 18-12, Wyke's Brian Turner winning 21-9.

Spen Ex had a couple of busy days, starting with a 22-8 win at home to Pudsey Britannia B.

Keith Woodhead excelled, chalking up a 21-2 win. Spen then followed up with another impressive 18-12 home win over Armley Cons, thanks to wins from Jenny Miller (21-6), David Dransfield (21-7) and John Jagger (21-9).

Back-to-back home games in the Riley League for Queensbury brought them 48 points.

A 27-3 win over Wibsey B saw Queensbury bowlers Alan Pearson (21-5) and Les Law (21-7) register good wins.

Queensbury then beat Guiseley 21-9. Susan Swain had got Guiseley off to a scorching start with a 21-1, though Queensbury came back strongly with wins for Dennis Robinson (21-2), Peter Ingham (21-4) and Maureen Holmes

(21-4).

Asa Briggs B, with nine winners, chipped in their usual 20 plus points at home to Guiseley B, and Jackie Richards' 21-7 for Wibsey didn't prevent a 17-13 defeat for them at Woodside B for whom Mike O'Leary was also a 21-7 winner.

Barbara Barraclough set the Field Packaging League alight with her 21-0 win for Shelf B in their home game against Birkenshaw, who still managed to win the game 17-13.

Bailiff Bridge and BBA shared the points, though there were good wins for Bailiff's Clive Brooks (21-6) and BBA's Phil Rayner (21-9).

Early Mellor League pace-setters Greengates found themselves staring down the throat of yet another defeat, this time to Bowling B.

Anthony Archer and George Thomas had both recorded 21-5 wins for Bowling, and although Bert Harrison pulled some points back for Greengates with a 21-8 they still found themselves 28 points adrift with only the last two block left.

Cue rampant Ronnie Bradley to save the day with a 21-2 and captain Tony Southern (21-4) to salvage a draw for his side.

George Keighley (21-6) and Stella Allwood (21-9) were impressive performers for Lister B in their 20-10 home win over West Bradford B.

Maureen Wainwright's 21-2 for Brackenhill B saw them to a slender

17-13 win over Wibsey C for whom Ashley Southwell bowled well in his 21-7 win.

Florence Woodhead (21-4) and Simon Metcalf (21-5) helped Tyersal to a 17-13 home win over Horton C. Kenneth Briggs had kept Horton in the game with a 21-5 win.

Bradford Moor B had a good 17-13 win at Horton D, Frank Longstaff's 21-6 and captain Olive Durrans' 21-8 providing a big finish for the away side.

John Lucciarini's 21-4 helped Royd House B continue their domination of the Moorhouse League, with a 21-7 from Ken McCafferty and 21-8s from Derek Hinchcliffe and Clarry Curtis ensuring a 20-10 win at Wibsey D.

Brian Gill (21-7) stood out for Shipley Club in their 23-7 home win over Bailiff Bridge B. Harry Beaumont's 21-5 for Lister C helped them to a 20-10 win over Bowling C, who had Kevin Stone at his best, winning 21-10.

l Well done to Littlemoor's Paul Farquharson on reaching the semi-finals of the Yorkshire Junior Merit held at Waterloo BC in Huddersfield.

Farquharson beat Guiseley's Thomas Cater and Eccleshill's Rob Dewhirst on his way to the semis where he went down 21-14 to Cameron Starkey (Syngenta).
