The men charged with running the day-to-day affairs of troubled Bradford City last night pledged to improve communication with some of the club's most loyal fans.

The club's steering committee came face-to-face with around 600 supporters at Valley Parade, the vast majority of whom were the owners of 25-year season tickets who have been asked to pay an additional £150 next season.

The steering committee, led by Steve Longbottom, reminded fans that the decision to charge extra had been taken by the club's administrators Kroll.

They agreed with angry fans that the way the proposal had been announced - through a statement to the press - was unsatisfactory.

Mr Longbottom said the committee was looking at ways to deal with the issue of 25-year season tickets once the club came out of administration.

He said holders would rank as unsecured creditors in the Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) document which is to be circulated to creditors soon.

Many of the 25-year season ticket holders - who paid around £2,500 three years ago - are still paying for their tickets in monthly instalments.

Suggestions about how the club could recompense fans for the extra outlay included offering them a complimentary second ticket, a dedicated hospitality area or asking for a voluntary donation rather than a fixed price.

A series of questions raised at the meeting are to be sent to the administrators, who declined an invitation to attend.

Meanwhile, fans are being urged to turn out in force for a fundraising race night at the Valley Parade banqueting suite tomorrow at 7.30pm. Prizes will include a £250 holiday voucher from Thomas Cook.
