Guiseley 0

York City 3

The second pre-season friendly for Guiseley ended in defeat as York City, who dropped out

of the Football League last season, strolled to a comfortable victory.

The Conference side broke the deadlock six minutes before the interval and added a second just after the hour. A late third gave the suggestion that the Nethermoor outfit were well beaten but that was harsh on the home side.

"It was a good workout and a helpful exercise, but I don't think we played well by any means," said Guiseley manager Neil Parsley.

"There were some good individual performances but we lacked cohesion and didn't gel on the night. But this is only our second friendly and we have some new signings to bed into the team.

"I made nine changes in the second half. It's important to get players involved because we are behind in our schedule.

"But with the calibre of players we have here at the moment I would have expected us to pass the ball a lot better and not concede possession so often. Don't read too much into this one off, we are still preparing."

New signings Kevin Graham and Curtis Bitton-Price both made their home debuts but Parsley picked out Simon Parke, Jeremy Illingworth and Bruce Hogg as the most impressive.

Before the Minstermen scored the home side had a strike chalked off after Scott Jackson had strayed offside in a tight decision.

Jackson, Parke, Stuart Airdrie and Graham all put the visitor's keeper to work but the York defence held firm.
