A private-hire driver is to appear in court after police charged him with sexually assaulting a young woman in his car.

The 32-year-old Bradford man was arrested after the teenager alleged that she had been indecently assaulted in May.

He was questioned by police and released on bail pending further inquiries.

The driver has now been charged under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 with two offences of indecent assault on a female.

He will appear before Bradford magistrates next month.

The 19-year-old woman claimed the driver sexually assaulted her in his car at the Brackenhill Park car park in Great Horton, Bradford.

He was immediately suspended by Bradford Council when they were told of the allegation, pending the outcome of the police investigation.

But the private-hire driver has lodged an appeal which is due to be heard by licensing magistrates today.

They could uphold the Council's decision to suspend him or revoke it which would allow him to continue driving private-hire vehicles until the conclusion of criminal proceedings.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed: "A 32-year-old Bradford man has been charged with two offences of indecent assault on a woman.

"He will be appearing before magistrates next month."
