Nadeem Siddique has set himself a two-year target to become a British champion.

The ambitious Bradford fighter believes it is a realistic aim - and his words are backed up by Boxing Board of Control secretary Simon Block.

He was at the Nottingham Ice Arena last week for the Carl Froch bill and saw Siddique chisel out his 11th straight win as a pro on the undercard.

There were few surprises as Siddique beat Birmingham trier David Hinds for the second time. But Block stopped him afterwards to offer plenty of encouragement.

Siddique said: "I spoke to Simon and he mentioned how impressed he had been. We both agreed that if I can keep progressing, then there is no reason why in another two years' time I can't box for a British title.

"I'm excited by the possibility and really confident that I'm ready to step up as soon as possible.

"I want to box someone for a title like the Central Area and I feel I'm good enough now to mix it with the likes of Martin Hardcastle or Mally McIver. I've been learning my trade against journeyman opponents who are in there just to frustrate and now I want to face somebody who has come to fight."

Siddique, wearing his trademark all gold, added some glitter to the show in the "floater" fight ahead of the main event.

He agreed to a shorter four-twos clash so that it would be on prime time rather than shoved on the end of the evening.

He added: "I had a lot of support from Bradford and I didn't want to keep them waiting all night.

"Ronnie O'Sullivan was in the crowd and Bobby Vanzie and it felt great to be boxing in such a good venue."

Siddique had hoped to be facing Coventry's Baz Carey but made up for his disappointment with a sparkling show against the defensive Hinds.

"I thought I'd just go in there and play with the guy. I boxed southpaw then orthodox and went to the body and head. Nobody in Nottingham had seen that sort of style for a while apart from when Junior Witter won the European in June.

"I was hitting Hinds with a lot of clean shots and it's probably the first time I came out of the ring totally loving my performance. I really enjoyed it and just wished it could have gone on longer."
