Joe Simpson and Roger Raper both have opportunities to stake their claims for a regular place in Bradford and Bingley's starting line-up tomorrow.

Simpson is included at full back for the Powergen Cup second-round tie at Harro-gate, while Raper comes into the front row.

Bees coach Geoff Wappett said: "Joe has shown up well in certain areas and has played full back before for Bradford Salem amd Halifax. He is a broken-field runner of some quality.

"Roger has big boots to fill in the shape of Peter Hall, who broke his ankle last Saturday. Peter has been playing exceptionally well this season. He had become a charismatic leader."

As for the clash against their National League Two opponents, Wappett said: "They have had some problems up front and we feel quite confident in that area."

The winners will be at Bristol. Cleckh-eaton renew their rivalry with Gary Pearce's Hull at Moorend, and Cleck-heaton Sports Club chairman Alan Bentley knows more than most about the financial benefits.

He said: "The difference between the first round and the second round is about £1,000, and the margins get higher and higher the further you progress.

"If we can win tomorrow there is the possibility of travelling to Otley in the fourth round in front of a good crowd if we can triumph at Westcombe Park or Barking.

"And by that stage the gate is split 60-40 in favour of the home team, and there are also bar profits to be taken into account."

Bentley added tellingly: "You make more money by winning a round in the Power-gen Cup than by winning the Intermediate Cup. We know because we have been to the semi-finals of the Intermediate."

Cleckheaton's only change tomorrow is dropping winger Mark Doherty, but they include former Old Brodleians' second row Oliver Hawkins on the bench.

Wharfedale, who travel to Blaydon, will be at Orrell in round three if they are successful. New Zealander Daniel Snee gets a rapid promotion to first-team action at inside centre for the Dalesmen. Skipper Andy Baggett moves to outside centre, with Chris Malherbe on the left wing. Rob Baldwin, consistently impressive with the Foresters, starts at No 8. Ben Wade will be charging his batteries on the bench for undoubted introduction at some stage.

Otley select from 23 for their National League One clash at Pertemps Bees (formerly known as Birmingham-Solihull).

But they will be without prop Justin Wring (shoulder injury), second row Howard Parr (Achilles injury) and back-rower Nathan Bland (knee injury).
