Dean Windass has urged his City team-mates to make some noise.

He reckons they need to get more vocal to be in with a shout of beating Barnsley.

Windass admits he was as much to blame as anyone for the dismal LDV Vans Trophy loss to Accrington. But nobody in the side told him so.

City's top scorer said: "I'm the first one to hold up my hand if I'm playing rubbish. But you also need that kick up the backside from someone else having a go.

"Everybody was below par on Wednesday, especially in the second half, but the only rollickings were coming from Bobby Davison on the touchline.

"If David Wetherall and Wayne Jacobs don't play then maybe there aren't enough people to have a go. The other players expect me to shout at somebody else but there is no-one on my case.

"I've never been one to shirk responsibility. If I've had a particularly bad game then I will admit that to anyone. But you need someone to say it. Nobody was shouting at me when I was giving the ball away.

"Sometimes the quiet ones have to come out and have a go at the experienced players like myself and 'grab them round the throat' a bit."

Windass is restored to the attack tomorrow after a game in midfield. And he is itching to net his first goal for five weeks.

He said: "It was just a one-off in midfield because the gaffer wanted to have a look at a few different things.

"I need to get back up front again and hopefully back on the goal-scoring trail. You lose your rhythm missing out a game and now I want to get back playing how I have been. The winning goal would be great tomorrow."

Windass scored six in the first six games and admitted: "When you go a while without getting a goal it does play on your mind.

"I want to be top goal-scorer in this division and every Sunday morning I check the papers straight away to see if any of the other strikers in the list have scored any more.

"The lads expect me to get the goals and

now I'm back up front it's down to me to put

in a good performance.

"It's a nice responsibility to have and I don't intend to let anyone down."
