FIFTEEN-year-old Matthew Cottam is celebrating a sprint double after picking up gold medals at the West Yorkshire Junior Athletics Championships.
Matthew, who attends South Craven School and runs for Bingley Harriers, won the 100m and 200m in one of the final events of the outdoor season despite being a year younger than most competitors.
He recorded a personal best time of 22.80 seconds in the 200m and narrowly missing out on another 'PB' in the 100m.
As he does not turn 16 until next February, he will be able to compete in same age group events next year.
Matthew said: "It was a great performance and a big confidence booster for me. It has been a pretty good season - I have been part of the younger end of the age group but next season I will be one of the older ones."
For part of the season he has also been training with the North of England select squad.
