Bradford Bulls' 20-stone Great Britain prop Paul Anderson has been signed by St Helens for next season.

The 32-year-old Anderson, a member of the Bulls' Grand Final-winning team 12 months ago, is out of contract at Odsal at the end of this season.

"Paul will give us the extra size and directness in the front row which we need," said Saints coach Ian Millward.

"He will take some of the workload off our existing front-rowers and they should benefit also in their effectiveness throughout the season." Anderson, who has signed a one-year deal, is St Helens' second major signing for 2005, following the acquisition of Australian Test centre Jamie Lyon.

The former Leeds and Halifax front-rower has been a cornerstone of Bradford's magnificent pack over the last eight seasons, in which time he has been largely used as an impact player off the bench.

Of his 195 appearances, 112 have been as a substitute. Anderson has missed the Bulls' last six matches after minor knee surgery.
