Having played every game of the regular season last year, Rob Parker described himself as "the angriest man in the world" when he was omitted from Brian Noble's squad for the play-offs and Grand Final.

Parker has been ever-present again this season and is odds-on to finally fulfil his play-off ambitions.

For motivation, he has been dredging up the pain he felt this time last year.

"I've not really thought about it for a while but now that we are coming into the finals I need to dig up some memories and use them to spur me on," said Parker.

"I played every game leading up to it and then missed out on the semi-final and final.

"There is a bit of built-up anger inside me. I want to try to prove Nobby wrong for not picking me last year.

"That's what he said to me at the end of the year: 'You've been disappointed but hopefully it can be a blessing in disguise'.

"He took me to one side and said: 'People have these blips in their careers, it's how you react that counts'.

"Playing in the play-offs is not something I've done before. Personally it means a lot to me and I've got my own little goal."

Noble won't go as far as confirming Parker's participation tonight but every indication suggests he will be in the 17.

"Rob had his best game of the season against St Helens in the final round so he should be in the shake-up," said Noble.

"He has been an unsung hero at times. Front-rowers need to know their job and Rob knows his. He wins the ground for us on attack and defence and I am pleased with what he has come up with this season."

Noble was delighted Parker put pen to a contract extension earlier in the week.

"It was a big decision for him to stay at the club because other clubs were after him.

"He has been with us since he was 15. He has had a good year but he also knows that there is a lot of competition for places at the club and he will have to play well to stay in the team. Somebody has got to miss out. That is the harsh reality of the sport we are involved in."

Don't expect any huge plays from Parker if he does play.

"Some people only notice the players who score the tries and put in the big tackles," said Parker.

"I try to make 50 tackles if I can. I try to push myself as hard as I can and just stay consistent."
