Keighley karaoke singer Mark Pearson has been told officially that he will be in the Guinness Book of Records for a second time.

Mark's solo karaoke marathon during this year's Keighley Festival has been accepted for inclusion in next year's record book.

Last year's festival karaoke, in which hundreds of local people sang for a total of 80 hours, set a record for group karaoke singing.

The 2003 record has been published in this year's Guinness Book of Records, which went into the shops this month.

Mark sang alone for 25 hours and 45 minutes last June, giving up before his 36-hour target because he was so exhausted.

Mark said the only other Keighley-based record in the current book was the world's highest archery score, set in 2000 by Michael Hanson and Stephen Howard.

He is looking forward to a third record attempt, hopefully at next year's Keighley Festival, but is unsure what it will be yet.

He said: "There are a few records I would like to do. I'd like to bungee jump from a hot air balloon -- the world record is about 14,000 feet in the air."

Mark is planning a party to celebrate the second karaoke record, and will invite all the people who supported him during the attempt.
