Soulfish make a rare public appearance next month when they repeat last year's high-profile performance in aid of diabetes research.

The popular Keighley soul covers band will be supported at Victoria Hall by recently-formed rock covers band Rider.

Soulfish, who in recent months have concentrated on private gigs, expected to have their entire 11-strong line-up onstage for the November 13 show.

They hope to raise more than last year's £2000, which went towards the £10,000 raised throughout the year by Diabetes Keighley.

Rider will play covers by the likes of Oasis, Pink Floyd and Aerosmith as well as possibly some of their self-written rock songs.

The band, which consists mostly of 18-year-old former Bingley Grammar School students, also plays the Ferrands Arms, Bingley, on October 28.

Buy £5 tickets for Soulfish from Keighley Information Centre in the town hall, the Musician's Centre at Keighley railway station, the Willow Tree, Riddlesden, or phone 01535 600310.

n This month's Hush concert at Victoria Hall is likely to be the last at the venue by the popular Keighley rock band.

Frontman Don Gaudiosi said the band would in future stick to less ambitious gigs at pubs and clubs across the region.

Don has organised charity gigs at Vic Hall for the past two decades and has done several with Hush for Airedale Hospital's breast cancer unit.

The latest, on October 30, comes as the four-piece band finishes recording its latest single featuring four of Don's songs.

One, Beyond the Clouds, was written with local musician Richard Hunt in memory of Stockbridge girl Casey Mason, who died in the summer in a car accident.

The Victoria Hall show will be supported by singer John Driver, formerly of club band Under the Covers, Keighley rock band Circus? and DJs Andy Sharp and Dave Walsh.

Tickets are on sale at Keighley Information Centre.

n The Demon Barber Roadshow rolls up the Aire Valley from its regular Bradford home to present high-energy music and dance at Glusburn Institute.

Folk-rock outfit the Demon Barbers, led by local singer-musician Damien Barber, headline the show on October 23.

Over the past three years they have gained recognition on the national folk circuit for the innovative arrangement of traditional song.

Support comes from a horde of young rappers, clog and morris dancers whose high-speed act is renowned for leaving audiences breathless. Tickets cost £7 (concessions £5) from Forget Me Not, Cross Hills, or by phoning 01535 630223.

n Jam sessions are continuing at the Wuthering Heights pub in Stanbury with a host of musicians playing each Tuesday.

Among the regular performers is a house band whose members include musicians from local band Joe Public.

Anyone else is welcome to go along and play covers or original material in any style including blues, jazz, rock and pop.

Landlord Robin Dearden said some musicians from local bands test their new material in the informal setting.
