Keighley Albion 24 New Earswick 23 (Yorkshire Cup 3rd round) - Albion went through to the next round of the Yorkshire Cup with a last miniute penalty goal from man of the match Keith Dixon.

Earswick who took the lead with a converted try after 15 minutes and added a second try to lead 10-0 after 25 minuites.

Albion hit back with a well worked move which ended in Cullen scoring in the corner, Dixon then made it 10-6 with a touchline conversion.

Dixon tfollowed up his own crubber kick to make it 10-10 at the interval.

Another Dixon converted try after good work from Blackburn and Hollins saw Albion firmly in control. A good break by Aitkins put Bellamy through a gap to pass to player-coach Dixon who skipped in to complete his hat-trick of tries. He then converted to make the score 22-10.

Albion allowed New Earswick back into the game with silly mistakes in vital possitions on the field and two converted tries saw the visitors draw level at 22-all with five minutes to go.

A drop goal gave them the lead and it looked like a suprise victory was on the cards.

However, they they where caught offside in the dying secounds which resulted in Dixon winning the game for the Albion and taking his points tally to 20 in the game.

Albion now travel to Brighouse in the forth round of the competiton.

Sportsmen's Spartans 8

Keighley Town A got off to a flying star when they took the ball the full length of the field for young forward Craig Lawson to score in the corner.

The Spartans responded with a penalty to make it 4-2 and they were kept at bay throughout the rest of the half. But Town's backs showed their pace to score four further tries.

They were scored by man of the match Khasime Ahamed and Allen Muff who added three tries and two goals to make it 24-2 at the break.

The second half saw a spirited come back from the Spartans who added a converted try.

The revival was shortlived as Town's forwards again started to get on top. The powerful running of Rocky McNulty and Martin Copperwaite was too strong and Jamie Donnelly cashed in with a try.

Jimmy Shaw nipped in at the corner before Dean Melvin supported a strong run by Danny Spencer to score under the posts, allowing Donelly to add the extras.
