Silsden 5 Daisy Hill 0

Jamie Longley gave the boys from Daisy Hill a lesson in the art of forward play on Saturday with a display of pace, deft touches and vision to continue Silsden's good start in the North West Counties League.

The visitors had no answer to the speedy front man who, along with Dale Hoyle, ran them ragged.

Silsden, oozing confidence after their midweek victory over Holker were soon creating chances and the opening goal was not long in coming as Peter Hanson who hit a superb volley beyond Baxter.

Longley then created a goal for Gill and there were more close shaves before Longley created a classy goal. He appeared to be tightly marked against the touchline but some tricky footwork mesmerised the defence and he raced to the by-line and crossed for Hoyle to make it three.

Rhodes made it four in controversial circumstances - the referee overruled his linesman's offside flag.

That upset the visitors and Caine was sent off. The fracas has taken place in front of the Silsden dugout from where an incensed Akroyd went on to the field. Although there was no contact with anyone Akroyd was summarily "sent off" without ever having been involved in play!

It took a while for the game to settle down, and then Longley made it five when he beat the offside trap and rounded the keeper.

Silsden are home again on Saturday versus New Mills (3.00).
