NORTH Ribblesdale are the only club in rugby action this weekend as both Skipton and Wharfedale made early exits from their respective cup competitions.

But Ribb are keen to have another taste of glory after their trip to Twickenham this spring.

They still feel a sense of robbery about that Powergen Vase final as a fire in a burger van had the biggest say in the destiny of the trophy and there's a mood of unfinished business.

But if they plan to put that right come spring, the second step on the long, hard road to Twickenham has thrown up a nasty second round obstacle in the shape of a trip to Scarborough, in the same division as the Settle men, who will have to be on their mettle at the seaside tomorrow.

Ribb, after just missing out on promotion in the spring, started the season with high hopes but they are renowned slow starters. A home defeat at the hands of Sheffield Tigers followed by a loss at Castleford showed that they had some hard thinking to do.

Last week's victory at Bradford Salem certainly showed that Ribb have now moved through the gears. Salem were unbeaten and indeed confident of despatching the Dalesmen. If Ribb can retain that form, they can put right that Twickenham wrong.
