Guiseley are making light of the fact they have four experienced players missing - and that is due to the astute signings Neil Parsley and his No 2 Clive Freeman have brought in.

Any team would miss the skill and scoring prowess of Ryan Senior. Had he not chosen a career in the police force he would surely have made the full-time game.

Scott Jackson, Kevin Graham and Dave Henry, who is on the verge of a comeback after an appearance on the bench last Friday, have also been a huge loss to Guiseley. And after signing former Halifax Town and Avenue centre back James Stansfield, they had to wait until the cricket season had ended to get him into the squad.

But Guiseley are still well placed after regaining their Premier Division status after a four-year gap. The supporters must be wondering just what they could have achieved but for the glut of injuries.

"I don't like to think about that, the players available for any match are the ones we must pick from to get the desired result," said Parsley.

"If we have a selection problem later then so be it and all the better for this football club and the aspirations of everyone involved. The players, the board and the supporters all want to take the club forward and see the successful times return. We have been able to attract players to the club this season because of the changes behind the scenes in the close season.

"There is not a pile of cash. We can't buy our way back to being title contenders but we are more secure. The fans are led to believe that we are capable of paying out big wages.

"We can't and we don't. But we are able to compete for players due to a system of bonuses and that makes Guiseley an attractive proposition for players with real ambition."
