Right back Andy Quinn has always been held in high regard as reliable and dependable but he is pushing for the honour of being the first name pencilled in after completing 200 games for the club over five seasons.

The former Leeds United youth passed the milestone in the game against Worksop Town on September 14 and has not missed a game since. In fact the last league game he missed was at Stalybridge Celtic on December 28, 2002.

The only game he missed last season was the FA Cup first round proper home tie against League One side Bristol City.

"I knew the 200 would not be long coming but I didn't realise I had already passed it," said Quinn.

"I am definitely proud of it and would love to clock up another 200 at the club. I'm only 25 so you never know how long I could be here and how many games I could play.

"It has been a great time for me though, I have really enjoyed myself playing for this club and we have done some good things. Everybody has been wonderful, the managers have been top class, the supporters are special and it is a nice, friendly club.

"There is a real team spirit here - there always has been - and even the training is enjoyable."

Quinn hopes to reach the first round proper and get another Football League club to Horsfall Stadium this season so he can make up for missing the biggest day for the club since it reformed.

The only other blight on his time came last Saturday when, on his 205th appearance, he scored an own goal. It was the third for Redditch United in a 3-0 defeat after Avenue were reduced to nine men.

"It wasn't the best moment of my time here, not one I will want to remember. But I can't blame the pitch, there was no excuse. I just stuck out a leg to stop the cross and turned it into the net. I scored an own goal when I was 12 so if the next one is as long coming then I can't complain."
