Up to 40 new jobs are to be created as a fast-growing air conditioning supplier moves into futuristic new headquarters in Bradford.

Climate Control, a family-owned business that was launched only two years ago, is set to see its workforce grow from 12 to more than 50 when it makes the move in February.

Building work is well under way on the silver and blue cube-shaped development in Thornton Road, Fairweather Green, which will be the new headquarters for the business.

Climate Control turned over £845,000 in its first year but has grown so much it expects that to approach £5 million for 2004.

Managing director Steve Taylor said the company started as a sales organisation and moved into air conditioning when he realised the market was dominated by small engineering companies with little or no sales experience.

The business has grown through well-targeted marketing campaigns, training courses for all staff and aggressive selling techniques such as strict instructions to answer the telephone rapidly and turn quotes quickly.

Mr Taylor said the firm has also benefited from a growing awareness of the benefits of air conditioning and the high prices of city centre office space, leading to more people and equipment crammed into smaller areas, generating a need for good air conditioning.

Climate Control has also established itself as the UK's leading provider of air conditioning to homes, particularly for conservatories and bedrooms, as well as to the growing schools market.

It sells products from a range of manufacturers but has a partnership agreement with a market leader, Daikin.

And Mr Taylor said the move to the new headquarters would enable the company to grow even further, bringing benefits to the Bradford economy.

"The new office will allow me to take Climate Control to a new level," he said. "We are an energetic, enthusiastic team who have benefited from a dedicated, client-focused attitude.

"The expansion will allow me to improve the economic status of Bradford and I am pleased to be able to enhance the profile of my business through my belief in social responsibility.

"We are very constrained at the moment by our lack of space and we are very keen to expand our staff across the business, particularly in administration and telesales."
