Mark Bower has vowed to give City's travelling army plenty to smile about in the West Yorkshire derby.

Huddersfield are expecting a season's best 16,000 crowd at the Galpharm tomorrow, easily beating the 13,542 who saw them thump Hull in September. And nearly 4,000 of those will be Bantams fans hoping to see a sixth away win.

Local lad Bower has underlined the importance of putting one over their nearest neighbours in the High Noon collision.

"Bradford fans always look out for the Leeds and Huddersfield fixtures and everyone's been waiting for this," he said.

"We know there are only three points at stake but it's more important than that. It's about bragging rights for our supporters.

"A lot of Bradford people work with Huddersfield fans and we want our supporters to be going into work on Monday morning with huge smiles on their faces."

Bower and central-defensive partner David Wetherall will be up against the in-form Pawel Abbott, League One's leading marksman.

Abbott, a Poland under-21 international, has bagged 15 goals for Peter Jackson's side - and netted the winner when he last faced City for Preston.

But Bower, the only player to start every City game this season, has shown he is not worried by reputations.

He added: "Abbott is doing really well but lots of players in this league can score goals. You have to treat everyone with the same respect.

"You can play against someone you've never heard of and they can give you the run around. You can't just look at Abbott and ignore the others or somebody else will pop up with a goal."

City's options are boosted by the return of Darren Holloway and Zema Abbey. Owen Morrison could also start for the first time and Dean Windass is hoping to be back from his thigh injury.

With resources boosted, City are confident they can make it a nap hand of Yorkshire victims and add Huddersfield's scalp to those of Doncaster, Hull, Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

Bower said: "We've looked really solid away from home, bar the odd occasion, and the team has that quality when we do break to catch people out.

"Some of the attendances have been a bit disappointing at home but away we've had some good followings. It will be brilliant if the fans can get behind us and hopefully we'll give them something to cheer about.

"There is no game for eight days after Huddersfield until Boxing Day so a win would set us up nicely for the rush after that."
