PAUL ASHTON has returned to Cougar Park eager to show his skills back in the Keighley colours.

The nippy stand-off played in the NL2 Play-off winning side of 2003 then gave up the chance of staying with the promoted Cougar side, deciding to make the moved to Swinton.

He is back in a Cougar shirt and determined to show his best form.

Moorby has also signed another former Rhinos player, capturing the signature of 20-year-old Johnny Wainhouse this week.

"He is another young player who comes with stacks of experience at a Super League club - he has a superb attitude and is determined to do well," Gary Moorby said.

Wainhouse, who lives in Leeds, has played at hooker for the Rhinos' Academy team, but is now determined to make the grade as a senior player.

The young hooker has played in the Academy team for the last three years and was crowned Academy Player of the Year at the Headingley club two years ago.

"I have the opportunity to give myself a new challenge and test myself at another level. I want to really make a name for myself at Keighley and show everyone what I can do," he said.

The signing of Wainhouse continues the plan to give extra strength and depth to Moorby's squad. He joins Australian Daniel Harvey who has moved to the Cougars from Sydney Club Canterbury Bulldogs and 19-year-old Lewis Trevor who has also played in the Leeds Academy and also represented Wales in the recent Tri-Nations tournament.

Club chairman Neil Spencer said: "The squad looks good and the lads are very keen, this year we will also have our own Academy players pushing for regular places in the first team.

"We always said we were working for the long term future of the club and that effort is beginning to pay off," he said.

But they club has also suffered a double blow at the ground.

Planned work to replace the roof of the main stand is due to be abandoned after sponsorship, which was expected, has fallen through.

Floodlights on one side of the ground have also failed in recent weeks and cables need relaying and the lights refurbishing.

"That work is going to cost us about £4,700, but it is essential the job is done before the start of the season," Mr Spencer said.

n Season tickets are available at a 10 per cent discount until Christmas with passport size photographs needed for each ticket. Ground tickets are £99 and £49.50 for OAPs. Junior home and away tickets are £25.
