Keighley supergroup Dawnwatcher recorded two singles in the early 1980s and disbanded more than 20 years ago.

But it still attracts interest among heavy rock fans desperate to buy rare copies of vinyl discs Spellbound and Backlash.

The band (above), whose five members included present Hush musician Pete Kaberry, features on several rock and metal websites.

Dawnwatcher's music is particularly popular among modern-day fans of the 1980s movement the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

Now the quintet's fame has spread to France, where Frederic Dronsart is desperate to find out more about Dawnwatcher.

He wants to contact former members so he can carry out online interviews, and track down demo, live or studio tapes.

He hopes to persuade Pete or fellow members including singer Billy Barton, to re-release material or contribute to new compilations of NWOBHM bands.

Frederic said: "There are quite a number of people all over the world interested in Dawnwatcher, I'm probably just the tip of the iceberg.

"Dawnwatcher's music deserves more than slowly fading into obscurity and younger people have to put an ear on their music."

Anyone who can help Frederic, including former Dawnwatcher members, should e-mail him at fred_dronsart@hotmail.com.

n A new Robbie Williams tribute band makes its debut by playing a Valentine's concert at the Snooty Fox, Oakworth, on February 12.

The seven-strong line-up of Robbing Millions include former Whipping Post bassist Theo and Keighley keyboard player Paul Janetta.

The musicians, who have all played in other bands, aim to recreate Robbie's Knebworth concert that was released on DVD and CD last year.

Paul said: "It was a pretty impressive concert and we do it justice. We stand out amongst other Robbie tribute acts because we are a fully functional band, not a solo artist."

Tickets cost £4 by phoning the Snooty Fox on 01535 642689 or Paul on 07985 805455.
