GREENHEAD school's sporting facilities have been thrown open to clubs across the district as part of an innovative partnership.

The Sports Hall, Gym and Athletics Track are open to a number of local clubs and organisations at new lower price rates.

SportKeighley helped pull the scheme together with the support of the school, a Community Learning Centre based at the school, Education Bradford - who have provided start-up funding - Bradford Council and Keighley & Craven Athletic Club.

The aim is to make more use of existing facilities and help design buildings for school and community use when Greenhead is re-developed.

Computer facilities at the City Learning Centre will also be available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings providingtraining, including the use of a top quality digital sound mixing studio, for just £1 per hour.

Greenhead is a pilot school in the 'Extended Schools' initiative, which aims to make far better use of all school facilities across Keighley in and out of school hours, and has taken a lead with this project.

It is hoped that among other things the move will encourage wider use of the facilities and clubs based at the school.

The school and K&C Athletics Club are also hoping to get grants from UK Athletics to upgrade the athletics track.
