Long Lee got the New Year off to a flying start with a 4-3 victory over a strong Eccleshill A team. First half goals from James Sutcliffe and Matthew Kershaw laid the foundation for victory and they nudged further ahead with another classic finish from Kershaw after the break. Eccleshill clawed their way back to 3-3 and the final few minutes saw some outstanding saves from both goalkeepers. Max Kidd and James Francis came off the bench and the 'super subs' were both involved in the winning goal which was neatly tucked away by Francis. James Sutcliffe dominated midfield and picked up the match point.

Long Lee Under-11s got back into the groove with a comfortable 3-1 win over Silsden. After a deluge of rain and wind the pitch was in tip-top condition although it took both teams a while to settle into any kind of routine. In an even first half Silsden took the lead through an own goal only for Thomas Francis to equalise when he struck home from the edge of the box after a well worked corner.

The second half saw Long Lee dominate early on and when Luke Narey tap in a rebound via Rhys Palmer's parried shot it seemed that nerves were getting the better of Long Lee as Silsden pressed for an equaliser. Fortunately man of the match George Wysocki put the game beyond Silsden as he beat three men and fired a shot across the goalkeeper which nestled in the bottom corner.

Long Lee Under-9s started the new year with a 2-0 victory over Prospect. After a slow start, Long Lee soon found their passing touch with man of the match Declan Burke scoring a stunning 25-yard goal from the touch line. In the second half Long Lee had all the possession but a brilliant display from the Prospect keeper kept further goals at bay until Jack O'Keefe finally added a second.
