The Pryce brothers, Leon and Karl, put on a show as the Bulls romped to a 50-30 victory over Huddersfield Giants in a pre-season friendly at Odsal.

Paired at wing and centre on the right hand side, the Bradford-born brothers combined for four tries as the Bulls ripped the Giants apart in a nine-try demolition.

On a day when an unnamed, mystery trialist winger of Pacific Island extraction appeared late on for the Bulls, the younger Pryce scored a hat-trick to suggest the answer to the club's search for a winger to replace Tevita Vaikona could lie closer to home.

After being frustrated by his failure to break through into the first team last year, the 6ft 6in 18-year-old is determined to prove he deserves another shot at the big time.

"I was a bit disappointed with last year as I didn't fulfil my potential, but hopefully this year I'll step up to the plate," said Pryce.

His size and skill are beyond question, however he has struggled with injuries and failed to finish either of the two matches he started last year. But following off-season surgery to his wrist and shoulder, he feels ready for the physical demands of Super League.

"I felt a lot more comfortable than last year," he admitted.

As well as displaying pace and power to claim his hat-trick, he produced a delightful centring kick with the outside of his left boot to create a try for scrum half Paul Deacon. That sublime piece of skill hinted at his ability to one day fulfil a play-making role at Bradford, however the regular academy stand-off is happy enough just to get on the field alongside older brother Leon.

"I can play anywhere but as long as I am playing in the first team I will be happy. I want to be knocking on that door every week, rather than being a couple of places down the line. I am just going to keep pushing," said Pryce.

Leon's try completed a happy afternoon for the Pryce family. Stuart Fielden, Paul Johnson, Stuart Reardon, Deacon and Andy Smith also crossed for the Bulls, with Deacon adding seven conversions.

The match was the final pre-season hit-out for the Bulls, however they are expected to take on the Canterbury Bulldogs in an opposed training session at Odsal either tomorrow or Wednesday.
