Mick Withers' match-winning try against Wigan was an accident.

The Aussie full back has revealed he was under instructions to take advantage of Wigan's left-sided defenders David Vaealiki and Brett Dallas, who had continually thwarted Bulls' attacks by rushing out of the line.

Withers may have had to wait until the 79th minute, but he eventually got the chance to make them pay.

"Nobby said to me at half-time to hang out on the right because that is what they had been doing all night, coming out," said Withers.

"Throughout the half I had been trying to support the forwards up the middle but then the ball went away so I just camped out there on the right.

"There was someone inside me but it was good vision from Iestyn Harris. I was in the gap and he threw a great pass. I just ran

onto it."

And Withers, who was playing his first match since tearing a thigh muscle in the Grand Final, insists he wasn't about to take any chances by cutting infield to improve the angle for Paul Deacon's nail-biting conversion attempt as he knew Deacon would kick the goal anyway.

"Danny Orr was right on my inside so I wasn't going to take any risks. Deacs has done it before. He is probably the best goal-kicker in Super League. We've always got confidence in him kicking goals.

"It was a weird game. We honestly weren't in it for the majority of the match, but we showed that when we control the ball and complete our sets then we are a hard team to stop. Hopefully we have turned the corner."
