Bradford's Elaine and Ian may be sharing the same wedding day as London's Charles and Camilla but the similarities between the two celebrations will end there.

While the heir to the throne and Camilla Parker Bowles will enjoy a wedding feast funded by Her majesty The Queen, Elaine Haigh and Ian Verrall, of Tyersal, will join friends and family for right royal knees up at their local.

The couple have spent a matter of hundreds their big day - rather than the hundreds of thousands expected to be spent by Prince Charles and his bride-to-be.

Elaine and Ian set the date of Friday, April 8 for their big day well before the Royal couple, but they are more than happy to share the special occasion.

"We don't mind getting wed on the same day but some of our guests are worried they might have to choose between which wedding to attend," joked Ian, 55.

Like The Prince of Wales and Mrs Parker Bowles, it is second time round for the couple and they have also opted for a civil service.

Ian's son David and Elaine's daughter Beverley will be witnesses at the ceremony.

They tie the knot at the Bradford Register Office at 3pm in front of a small number of family and friends.

But Ian said the similarities between the weddings end there.

"I think our 'do' will be something more like a scene from the comedy The Royle Family rather than a regal affair," said Ian.

He said their 70 guests will be treated to a good old fashioned knees up at the Junction Pub, in Thornbury.

"We are having a buffet and karaoke at the evening do which will be great fun," said Elaine, 40.

"It will be a very simple and understated affair," said Ian. "I am glad we don't have to deal with all the hype

they do."

Elaine said her wedding outfit is a top secret.

"I haven't shown it to anybody but as long Camilla's doesn't clash with mine

I will be happy," said Elaine who works as a care

assistant.

Elaine and Ian said they made all the arrangements for their wedding very quickly.

"The only thing left to decide is what song will be played during the ceremony," said Elaine. "Ian wants Perfect Day by Lou Reed

and I want Wonder of You

by Elvis."

After the wedding the couple are jetting off on a two-week honeymoon to Puerto Rica on Gran Canaria.

"We are really excited about the holiday," said Ian, a driver at a fruit market.

They couple met on Christmas Eve party in 2002. They got engaged a year later.

Elaine said it was Ian's humour that originally attracted her to him.

"He is a laugh a minute and we are both practical jokers so we got on immediately," she said.

"Thankfully our relationship has been much less traumatic than that of the Prince and Camilla," said Elaine.

Camilla Parker Bowles is being taken to the wedding in what was the Queen Mother's car, a 1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, but Ian said he and Elaine were being driven to the registry office by friends.

"We could be arriving in an old banger but it doesn't matter," he said. "At the end of the day we are going to be warm on our honeymoon. We are going to Gran Canaria and they are going to Scotland."

The couple have ordered a finger buffet for the evening reception and are breaking with tradition by not having the first dance.

"It's nice to be able to make all our own decisions without any interference from every man and his dog like them," said Ian.
