Colin Todd believes City's biggest opponents this season have been themselves.

The Bantams have shown they are good enough to compete with any of the top clubs in League One.

They are the only visiting side to win at Hull's KC Stadium, put five past Tranmere at Prenton Park and did the double over Sheffield Wednesday.

But instead of being in the mix for the promotion run-in, City find themselves effectively playing out time in mid-table.

Todd said: "A lot of it is down to ourselves. We have made individual errors at times which have cost us and not shown enough consistency, especially at home where we've drawn too many. It is frustrating because when you look back over the season I think the Luton away game was the only occasion when we were really turned over.

"We lost 4-0 and it could have been more because we were never at it that day.

"There was the time at Swindon when we took a battering second half but very nearly got away with a 0-0. Although even in that game we had good chances on the counter-attack before half-time.

"But I look at games like the 4-1 with MK Dons when you could never have seen that happening. We made bad mistakes and gave away goals at the wrong time that night and paid the price."

City went into 2005 in the top six but Thursday's draw at Doncaster has left them with too much to do to make up the gap. They have only seven games left and begin the countdown at home to doomed basement side Stockport on Monday.

Todd added: "There is very little consistency in this league. It doesn't make any difference whether you're up against a team who have won six on the trot or lost them.

"Obviously you've got Luton, Hull and Tranmere up there and Sheffield Wednesday have also been putting results together at the right time.

"But everyone else have been hit and miss and I include ourselves in that.

"Since the five straight wins in October we've not been able to string a run of results together.

"We've provided some very bright moments but unfortunately while we have matched most sides we haven't beaten the lesser ones when we were expected to."
