Queensbury's Pennine League Premier Division campaign came to a disappointing end with a 16-4 home defeat at the hands of near- neighbours Illingworth.

Bury have battled all season in the basement area and now that they are safe they looked like a side ready to put their feet up for the summer in what was a lacklustre performance.

Illingworth, on the other hand, are still very much in the title race despite unbeaten leaders Drighlington's win at Elland.

They established a 6-0 interval lead with a try from Darren Davidson, Nicky Cahill added the extras.

The Halifax side then took charge in the second half with further touchdowns from Daley Williams and Paul Akroyd, one of which was converted by Cahill. Bury then gained a consolation effort from prop forward Darren Wilkinson.

In contrast, Queensbury A are finishing the season in style.

Bury's second string have already booked a place in the Bradford and Pennine Supplementary Cup final on May Bank Holiday weekend and they went a long way towards retaining their Division Two status with a 32-17 home win over bottom-of-the-table Stainland Stags.

The Stags were no pushovers and put up fierce resistance before Bury's young guns came out on top.

Teenage centre Damian Smith scored a hat-trick followed by a try each from full back Andy Barraclough, wingman Danny Kelly and scrum half Reece Marriott.

Loose forward Brett Marriott was on target with four conversions and veteran stand off Martin Potts ran the show from start to finish.

Odsal Sedbergh turned the form book on its head with a 20-10 home win over arch rivals West Bowling A.

Sedge had lost all of their previous outings but at least they finished their calamitous Division One term with two well-earned points. Bowling scored twice through James Dewhirst and Dean Minchella, and Dean Garside slotted over a conversion.

Brighouse Rangers go up to the Premier after a no-show from visitors Thornhill Trojans.

Undercliffe look certain to finish joint top in Division Four after a 52-12 triumph at Birkenshaw A.

Cliffe, who face a play-off with York Acorn if they win their last match, made a dismal start and did not fire on all cylinders until the second half. But with the tries coming thick and fast from Jonathan Hotham (2), Damian Patchett (2), Paul Priestley (2), Andy Mackie (2) and Gavin Jarvis, things improved considerably.

The best touchdown was reserved for prop forward Kiel Turner, who showed a fine turn of speed to race over from 60 metres.

Bank Top Harriers are Division Five champions following their 42-0

success over West Bowling B.

The Harriers have only lost once in the league all term and Bowling coach Alan Jowett was gracious to praise them as a quality outfit that deserve to play in the higher echelons after their sparkling display.

Tom Greenwood, Jamie Meeson, Jason Gelders, Cameron Nelson and Dan Oldfield reached the whitewash while old master Bernard Dowling was West's outstanding performer.

Wyke finished off their first season back in Division Six with a 20-18 success at Underbank A. Mick Wormald earned the plaudits with a try and four goals with other touchdowns coming from Ben Stirk and Liam Hay.
