Trojans took full advantage of a weakened Bramhope side to record back to back victories for the first time since October. The result also made up for the defeat that Trojans suffered at the hands of Bramhope only three weeks earlier.

With the designated match official failing to turn up club stalwart Jamie Davey took charge and earned plaudits from both sides for his performance.

Despite missing no fewer than seven of their side from the previous meeting, Bramhope started the stronger and Chris Hargreaves saved well from David Brindle. Andy Dutton also had as good opportunity when Trojans failed to clear but his fierce shot was too high.

In reply a teasing Craig Renton cross was spilled by stand-in 'keeper Mark Rice under pressure from Stuart Dibb but Gareth Goodison's angled shot went across the face of the unguarded goal.

Dutton continued to prove a danger with his late runs from midfield and his diving header from Phil Wilman's cross forced Hargreaves into action and the big 'keeper also denied the same player shortly afterwards with an excellent diving save.

Trojans took the lead just before the half hour mark when Renton delivered another deep cross and Dibb rose above the visitors defence to direct his header beyond Rice. The remainder of the first-half provided little in the way of entertainment with the heavy overnight rain making for difficult playing conditions.

The second-half continued in a similar vein with Trojans shading possession but not really troubling Rice. Once again midfielder Ian McKain was the pick of the Trojans side and his hustling midfield performance earned him match point.

Richard Wood flashed a 20 yard drive just wide and also drew a smart save from Rice while Kieren Hanogue, whose return to the side has coincided with the upturn in Trojans' fortunes, headed wide from a well directed Jonny Lofthouse fee-kick. Whilst only one goal separated the sides there was always a danger that Bramhope might salvage a point although their cause was not helped with Brindle virtually immobilized by a knee problem and the influential Ian Broadhead suffering a neck injury.

Eventually Trojans began to wear their opponents down and the second goal arrived 15 minutes from time. Good link up play between Goodison and Dibb saw the latter slide an excellent pass into the path of Lofthouse who rounded Rice to slot home.

Goodison was denied by Rice when he latched on to a long Hargreaves clearance but the young striker did not have to wait long for his reward. James Hoskins found Wood who made good ground before slipping a pass inside to Goodison who lashed a rasping drive home.

Lofthouse completed the scoring when he got in the end of another fine move. Substitute Chris Lloyd overlapped and from his cross Dibb laid the ball off to Lofthouse who lashed home from eight yards.

It was a credit to Bramhope that they still refused to give up and Hargreaves had to be alert to save from Spencer Brook to preserve a rare clean sheet for Trojans.

With nothing to play for manager Gary Shankland shuffled his pack for the midweek trip to struggling Beckwithshaw and despite many players performing in unaccustomed positions the side acquitted itself well and was good value for a point. In a quite forgettable game chances were few and far between.
