The Ilkley Junior Squash Open, showed the improvement in a number of Ilkley's budding squash players.

Hannah Dean, was too strong in the Under-15 girls, winning the title by beating fellow Yorkshire player Grace Smith.

Sean Thorton, showed how much he has improved by finishing sixth in the Under-15 boys while Tom Pughe finished seventh in the boys U-13. In his first tournament, Tom Bearpark finished fifth in the Under-11s, an encouraging performance.

In the Under-13 girls, Lauren Wade and Millie Pughe, finished eighth and ninth respectively.

Overall, 15 Ilkley juniors played the tournament, so the future is looking good at Ilkley, with a number of players now having Yorkshire and national rankings.

Two such players Hannah Dean and Millie Pughe represented Yorkshire last weekend. Hannah in the Under-15 girls and Millie in the Under-13 girls, where she was unbeaten in her matches against Nottingham, Merseyside and Lancashire.

Considering she is only ten, it was an outstanding performance.
