Division One Cup Final

George Cullingworth 4

Keighley United 3

Cullingworth took the Division One Cup thans to four goals from Gareth Marshall.

He found the back of the net direct from an in-swinging corner for the first and .got his second by heading over the goalkeeper.

United spent long periods defending and their only chances came from free-kicks and eventually Gareth Higgs scored from a long range direct free-kick which curled past Turner.

Marshall restored Cullingworth's two goal advantage completing his hat-trick by lobbing the stranded keeper after a fine long ball over the United defence by Alex Fleming. Marshall made it 4-1 before the break, beating a static United defence.

United's Andy Bennett forced Cullingworth keeper Anthony Turner into a fine save pushing over the bar for a corner. A penalty was awarded when the linesman spotted a push by Turner following the resulting corner and Bennett scored from the spot to make it 4-2.

As United pressed, a poor clearance by Turner fell to Higgs who shot over the stranded keeper for his second.

Turner maintained Cullingworth's lead on numerous occasions but was injured and Alex Best had to go in goal as United kept Cullingworth on the back foot. A double save by Best saw off United's best chances of the closing minutes as Cullingworth held on for a well deserved win despite a comeback by Keighley United when the game looked over.
