Two friends are celebrating raising £1,600 for a cancer charity by producing two calendars inspired by their home of Menston.
Cathy Tully and Rebecca Hollingworth were inspired to help Macmillan Cancer Support.
Their first calendar, on recipes provided by Menston residents, raised £400 for the charity and their latest for 2010, featuring photographs of the village, has generated £1,145.
Delighted at the response to the calendars, the pair said in a statement: “It has been great making these calendars.
“The support people in the village have shown has been amazing. The printer, Nigel of Pinsharp Digital Printers, did this all for us at cost price and he also made a very generous donation.
“All the photos have been donated by local amateur photographers too, which resulted in a calendar which was more representative of the local community.”
Roohi Lupton, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “The quality and professionalism of this calendar is fantastic.
“Everyone who is involved has given their time and skills to help people affected by cancer.”
Thanking everyone who bought the 2010 calendar on the village website menston.org, Rebecca and Cathy also revealed that a third calendar could be on the cards.
They have asked for pictures of Menston in landscape format to be e-mailed to cathtul@ aol.com or, if on a CD, to 14 Main Street in Menston.
