ILKLEY'S Richard Hammond is the reigning British Kick Boxing Champion in the middleweight division.
The 21 year-old Nottingham University student,won the title by working his way through four rounds and then knocking his opponent out in just 18 seconds in the final.
A final year computer programming student Richard surprised his parents by carrying off the title.
His father John is a golf professional and Richard has followed him into the sport.
John said: "We had no idea he was competing at this level. We knew he enjoyed going to the gym and works out there a lot but we did not know he was competing in things like this.
"He rang up on the day of the contest and said that he had got through to the final and then he called back later to say he had won the title."
