Ghost-watchers can get a sneak preview of a spooky walk this weekend.

An inaugural guided walk to look at Keighley's dark secrets will take place around the centre of the town on Sunday from 2pm.

Malcolm Hanson, who runs guided tours around Skipton and Haworth, will lead the walk.

The former musician, who is running the tours to coincide with the new book Keighley's Darkest Secrets, will continue with nightly tours during Keighley Festival.

He said: "Both the walk and the book are crammed full of stories and events.

"Some of the darkest secrets involve murder and the supernatural and are not for the faint-hearted.

"The walk will take in sites where strange things have occurred -- and continue to occur to this day.

"It is very frightening. We are going to murder sites, haunted buildings and strange graves.

"It has never been done before in Keighley."

The walk starts at Church Green, where the guests will be told the story of Old Three Laps.

He was jilted at the church in 1807 and lived for more than 40 years in his bed.

Other sites of interest include town centre mills, a haunted portrait at Cliffe Castle and Utley cemetery.

Malcolm added: "People who love the really strange stuff and don't mind the graphic details of murders will love it."

Places on the 90-minute walk are limited and people are advised to book tickets, costing £3, in advance to ensure a place.

The tours will be repeated during Keighley Festival, running from June 18-26.

If successful they could become a regularly feature of the town's attractions.
