GuideFest, Keighley's own outdoor rock festival, returns this summer with 18 bands from around West Yorkshire.

Seven Keighley and Haworth bands will be joined on August 13/14 by groups from Bingley, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford and Skipton.

They will perform outside the Guide Inn, between Long Lee, Cross Roads and Cullingworth, during the third annual GuideFest.

Among the bands will be Wet Paint, Random Hand, Breene, Operatorsix, Brand New Analogues, the Pipers, Angel Chain Diaries and Circus?

The Downfall, Pretty Machine, Filament, Swing the Lead and Reeved are also on the line-up.

There will be camping, food and drink, and stalls, with some proceeds going to charity.

n A modern minstrel from the USA will perform American, Irish, Scottish and English folk music next Friday in Keighley.

John McCormick is renowned for his wicked guitar playing and "rich, resonant and wonderfully expressive" voice mixing contemporary and traditional songs.

The Indianapolis-born acoustic musician will also tell stories during his headline performance at the Bacca Pipes Folk Club.

John has been recording for 20 years, and in recent years has performed regularly on both sides of the Atlantic.

n Johnny and the Poorboys are special guests at this year's Haworth Vintage Gathering at the site on Cullingworth Road from 9pm in aid of Manorlands on May 14/15.

n Leeds-band Juke Box Jive and DJ Flashback Billy perform at next Friday's rock 'n' roll dance at High Royds Sports and Social Club, Menston. Doors open at 7.30pm with tickets costing £5. Entry is via the gatehouse barrier.

n The B'Eagles fly back to Glusburn Institute on Saturday, May 21, due to popular demand.

The two-hour show will include hits Hotel California, Tequila Sunrise and Life in the Fast Lane. Tickets, priced £10, are available from Forget me Not, in Cross Hills, or Glusburn Institute on 01535 630223.

n A Russian accordionist will be in concert at Skipton Town Hall tomorrow night. Alexander Korbakov, from St Petersburg, will be playing pieces from around the world, Russian folk songs and a selection of music from his classical repertoire. Tickets cost £5 or £3.50 for concessions. The concert starts at 7.30pm.
