Keighley Cougars will break new ground this week when they host the Bradford School Football Cup Finals.

The club offered to help out Bradford Schools when it was realised that Valley Parade was being re-seeded and would not be available to stage the events.

Cougar Park's role as a prestigious venue for both rugby and football was quickly recognised and director Colin Farrar, along with Jack Holmes of the Keighley FA, stepped in to help Bradford Schools chairman Tim Leigh.

There will now be two great nights of junior football on Monday and Wednesday next week -- with Keighley schools featuring in four out of the six finals.

The action starts at 4.15 on Monday with the Under-15 final when Oakbank face either Hanson School or St Bede's.

The Undxer-13s final kicks off at 5.30 with Holy Family School taking on either Yorkshire Martyrs or Thornton.

At 6.45 there is the Under-16 final between St Bedes and Hanson School.

On Wednesday afternoon matches again start at 4.15 with Oakbank v Hanson in the Under-14s final.

That match is followed at 5.30 by the Under-12s competition featureing Holy Family v Yorkshire Martyrs and at 6.45 Hanson A take on Hanson B in the Under-19s final.

It is hoped that matches will be officiated by referees from the Keighley Referees' Association.

"Cougars should be congratulated for their efforts in staging the finals, it is another great example of their commitment to the local sporting community," said a Bradford Schools spokesman.
