TWO long-serving members of Cross Hills Football Club have been honoured for their dedication to grass-roots soccer.

Alec Riddiough and Barry Pearce were presented with 50-year long service awards from the Football Association at a special ceremony on Saturday.

Both had been players at the club for many years before taking up administration duties.

Mr Riddiough has been secretary for 10 years and has also been treasurer and groundsman. Mr Pearce is chairman of the club - a position he has held for many years - and prior to that, he was a keen committee member.

Both men have been instrumental in developing the club to its current position.

West Riding County FA chairman Peter Marsden presented them with the FA's long-service medal, lapel badge and a letter from the chairman of the FA. He made the presetations on behalf of the Keighley FA, who were represented by President Mr Jack Holmes.
